From August 2019 to July 2020, half of the logging in the Amazon (50%) occurred in Mato Grosso; In the state, 234.2 thousand hectares of native forests were logged for wood. Of that total, 38% was done illegally, in other words, without a valid authorization for logging the wood. The area exploited illegally for 2020 increased by 10% in relation to 2019. Solutions for overcoming this scenario of illegality include expanding transparency and ensuring that state systems for forest monitoring and control are integrated into Sinaflor.
