This study aims to analyze authorized deforestation by the environmental agencies in the Amazon and Cerrado biomes in Brazil. Using Prodes Amazon and Cerrado deforestation mapping data produced by the Nacional Institute for Space Research (Inpe) from August 2024 to July 2025, we identified the deforested areas that overlapped with deforestation authorizations provided by the state and federal environmental agencies. Of the 5,014 km² deforested in the Amazon, 11,4% were authorized. In the Cerrado, 57,4% of the 7,232 km² cleared in the period had authorization.
